I’m Imtiaz Zahoor, a veterinarian. I was born and raised in central Pakistan and earned my Doctor of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Agriculture, Faisalabad, in 2016.
In the clinic
I’ve spent about ten years in large-animal practice, mainly with horses and camels, across Pakistan, Qatar, Oman, Saudi Arabia and the UAE.
- Abu Dhabi Equine & Camel Hospital, UAE (2024 to now). I helped set up the hospital’s ambulatory service, which takes hospital-level care out to camels and horses in the field. I also cover race days at Emirates Racing Authority meetings, and I spoke about blood-borne diseases of dromedary camels at ADIHEX 2026.
- Nawames Veterinary Clinic for Camels & Horses, Qatar (2021 to 2024). Ambulatory work with race, show and breeding camels, alongside my own ambulatory practice: lameness and imaging, dentistry, surgery in the field, and reproduction, including embryo transfer and artificial insemination.
- Tharb Camel Hospital & Research Center, Qatar (2018 to 2021). I worked in sports medicine and surgery alongside board-certified surgeons from Europe and the US, helped reorganise the hospital and set up an ambulatory service for around 4,000 race and breeding camels. I also designed a care plan for newborn embryo-transfer calves that kept survival above 95% in the 2019–20 season.
- The Brooke, Pakistan (2016 to 2018). My first job: ambulatory care for working horses, donkeys and mules, and training local vets and community animal health workers.
Along the way I spent time at equine and large-animal practices in Belgium, Germany, the Netherlands and the US, to see how other people do the job.
The parts of the work I care most about are sports medicine and lameness, diagnostic imaging, regenerative medicine, and assisted reproduction in camels.
Outside the clinic
I co-founded Vetmor in Pakistan in 2020 to bring more technology into animal healthcare. These days I’m building VetMor as a web app that lets animal owners keep health records, track pregnancies and book vet services, and I’m exploring AI for the paperwork side of clinical work, such as drafting SOAP notes.
I’m also tinkering with AI more broadly. I think it could usher in a new era of personalised software, where people build tools around their own needs instead of bending themselves around someone else’s.
I run Modern Farming by Dr. Imtiaz, a YouTube channel with free animal health and husbandry advice for farmers, which now has more than 46,000 subscribers.
I read a lot, mostly about business and ideas, and I follow the markets more closely than is probably healthy. When I can, I travel, camp, fly a drone, play chess and write code.
I’m fuelled by coffee, curiosity and a love for deep conversations.
Why this site
For years I’ve told myself I would write more. This is me finally doing it. You’ll find essays on work and life, a few practical guides, and my clinical notes, all linked together the way I keep them in my own notes.
If something here helps you, or you think I’ve got something wrong, I’d like to hear about it.
