: uncommon cause of multiple abscesses affecting the subcutaneous areas of the face. The abscesses fistulate to the skin surface and, much less commonly, to the oropharynx, and discharge a viscous yellow/green pus.
- Actinobacillosis is caused by the gram-negative rod Actinobacillus lignieresi. A number of cases of abscesses affecting the face may be encountered in sheep grazing pastures containing gorse or similar spiky plants.
